With the new ESVA series (Enterprise Scalable Virtualized Architecture) Infortrend has created a storage solution that offers a lot of useful virtualization features based on Infortrend’s latest dual controller RAID systems which of course offer active/active mode performance. Several of these systems can be combined into a centrally managed group (scale-out), which not only increases capacity but also uses the additional performance of all controllers (by striping data over all existing nodes) and adds the bandwidth of all ports.
A RAID group can be expanded during operation. Management of all existing nodes, data striping and load sharing is done automatically.
The ESVA system is always accessed like one RAID system, but data will be sent over all existing Fibre Channel or iSCSI connections, thus offering highest possible bandwidth.
